Southeast Asia 2011
Southeast Asia 2011
Exactly 7 years ago (in 2004) I left Southeast Asia for the last time. At that time I left Southeast Asia on time because I left Sumatra just a few days before the great tsunami, which destroyed many countries.
My adventures and experiences which enriched me so much did not let me forget about this unique part of the world, and that`s I am soon returning to the this region. However this time I will have more time, I’ll be better prepared and now I am a more experienced traveller. In those times (in 2004) it was my first contact with a non-European culture (apart from the London`s multicultural society which I was rather disgusted with).
On the 06/05/2011 I`m flying out of London with Etihad airlines and according to my plan I will be travelling for about 4.5 months which can be extended. This time I`m going to five chosen countries of South-East Asia, such as: Burma (Myanmar), Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. To make it the trip nicer, in Thailand, Laos and Cambodia, I will have two travelling companions. One of them is Monika, who I recently took to Kyrgyzstan and few other Asian countries, and the other girl is my 3.5 year old Julia, who I’m taking for her first expedition.
Of course it will be a great adventure. I will see the golden pagodas in Burma, for the second time the temples of Angkor Wat in Cambodia, Saigon and the Mekong Delta, caves and waterfalls in Laos and many great beaches in Thailand, which are at the top of the most spectacular beaches of the world. I could list my great travel plans for a long time but these are only a few things that we`re going to experience together. Monica does not yet realize that I`m taking her to paradise. She will swim in a magnificent, turquoise sea, she will see beautiful Buddhist temples, I will feed her with exotic delicacies and she`ll have professional massages. It will be beautiful, although what counts to me above everything else is the adventure and more accurate understanding of all those countries.
All my travel plans are beautiful, but some of them do come true fully, and the other ones only partially. If you are interested in the general course of this trip and what and how I was able to accomplish my plan, I invite you to my short journal about Asia. In addition, I recommend my descriptions about the specific countries of Southeast Asia.
