My name is Martin and this is my story. I travel because it is fun and a great way to continue self-education which enriches the worldview and opens my eyes to unnoticeable things, both in the distant countries and the closest ones. Let's get to know other cultures but let's also respect and defend our own.

A few words from the author

Whilst travelling from the Christian remains of Constantinople and the ancient sands of Persia, through the Himalayas, the Great Wall of China and the dense jungles of Borneo, I realized that the world must have its order. Therefore despite my beautiful adventures and experiences I always remembered which culture I myself belonged to, and I also appreciated the beauty and values of our beautiful - White Christian civilization.

Travel reports

Travel reports are articles about trips to Asia. Each article is about a different country  or part of a country in a given year. There are plans on how to organize trips and practical information on how to travel in specific Asian countries. I think that these articles would be useful to  both experienced travelers and beginners.

Expedition to Georgia 2013

By: Martin Malik
Jvari church is one of the holiest churches in Georgia and also one of the oldest. It was built in the 6th century and stands on a hill which is well visible from afar. Jvari means "Church of the Holy Cross". Nino set up a cross making miracle at the top of a pagan temple, which brought people from all over the Caucasus.

Expedition to Armenia 2013

By: Martin Malik
The Biblical Khor Virap is glorious monastery built on a rock that lies at the summit of mount Ararat, where Noah's Ark bogged down after 40 days of cruise. The foundations of Khor Virap began around the 5th century but the entire complex was completed in the 17th century. Today it is a very popular direction of pilgrimage where many ceremonies such as baptisms and weddings take place and it is famous because of its history of Christianity.

Expedition to Azerbaijan 2013

By: Martin Malik
Baku is a nice and a rapidly changing city. It is a combination of the post-Soviet past with attractive walls of the Old Town and "glass" towers. It is also evident that Baku is a monument of money because its new promenade and the pampered Old Town underwent very expensive plastic surgery. Baku offers good cuisine, history and souvenirs related to the Azeri culture.

The Nagorno-Karabakh travel guide

By: Martin Malik
My stay in a country which officially does not even exist was very successful and I believe that anyone traveling in southern Armenia should come to Karabakh to have this special experience. Nagorno-Karabakh offers beautiful views, interesting history and antient churches. People are also very helpful and glad that we are interested in coming to their country.

Expedition to Iran (Persia) 2013

By: Martin Malik
Iran is a peaceful Muslim country that has not attacked anyone for over 200 years and the Iranians themselves are very hospitable and nice to tourists. Because of its natural resources Iran is attacked by Zionist terrorists and was considered an "axis of evil", which is a complete absurd. In the picture, the spiritual leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei.

Expedition to Bangladesh 2007

By: Martin Malik
I was at a tea plantation in Srimangal where I saw huge poverty of people working on tea fields owned by foreign corporations. In Srimangal I understood very clearly that the so-called "Fair Trade" advertised in England which such great passion, is an ordinary fraud.

Expedition to the Iraqi Kurdistan 2017

By: Martin Malik
Iraq is usually associated only with war, terrorism, chaos and the infamous Islamic State which cuts off heads for "infidelity" to Allah. Not many people know about the "other Iraq" in its northern part, which is controlled by the Kurdish Regional Government. The Kurdish part of Iraq is safe, economy and infrastructure are growing and this is the place where they behead ISIS fighters. It was really nice.

Istanbul travel guide

By: Martin Malik
Topkapi Palace had also its dark side because all boys and girls were Christians from the conquered nations. The boys were forced to accept Islam and were then educated to be Muslim soldiers and dignitaries, while European girls living in the harem were sexual gifts to the sultan or were bought at the slave markets. (Europe is currently heading that way!).

Expedition to eastern Turkey 2017

By: Martin Malik
I divide Turkey into: "west and east of Ankara". In west of Ankara the Turkish government wants tourists to spend money and make them believe that Turkey is only about beaches and bazaars. In the east of Ankara the Turkish government treats tourists like suspects, who should be watched and asked questions. In the east, the most hospitable are the Kurds, while the Turks offer tea to talk and assess where I could work.

Expedition to Lebanon 2015

By: Martin Malik
There were roadblocks everywhere; concrete blocks, barbed wire and a lot of weapons. Before entering the city everyone had to get off the bus to be searched. On the bus I met a Palestinian who said that he: 'liked Hezbollah only because it fought Israel, but apart from that he had enough of them'. I saw posters depicting Shiite clergy, including the Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and the martyrs, who died in the fight against Israel.

Expedition to Jordan 2015

By: Martin Malik
Travelers who know Petra just from the perspective of one temple shown in Indiana Jones, do not understand that Petra is primarily a mountain expedition, and therefore to reach some very important and dramatic places, one must put in a lot of effort, which especially in the hot climate of Jordan is even more tiresome. The most ambitious travelers should hire a guide with a donkey or a horse and take water supplies.

Trip to Brunei 2018

By: Martin Malik
Brunei is an underrated country, often called a „boring oil-rich Muslim state”. It is true that not a lot is going on in Brunei, and that the country’s economy is based on oil. However, Brunei has an attractive small capital Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB), the largest village on water Kampong Ayer, and it also has a river and mangrove forests, with residents such as proboscis monkeys and crocodiles.

Expedition to the Malaysian Borneo 2018

By: Martin Malik
Malaysian Borneo is a picturesque corner of Asia, which I recommend to travellers who like close contact with nature. The states of Sarawak and Sabah are home to primeval rainforests, great spectacular caves, and the rich cultural life of Borneo. In national parks and reserves you can see orangutans, proboscis monkeys, hornbills, sea turtles and crocodiles.

Things to see in Manila

By: Martin Malik
Manila is usually the first contact with the Philippines. Although the country is mainly associated with natural beauty, I think Manila deserves a few days of sightseeing. The capital of the Philippines has historical monuments, interesting museums and gardens, as well as happy people. Be sure to see Rizal Park and Intramuros Fort, although the zoo and the Ocean Park are also nice.

Trip to the Philippines 2018

By: Martin Malik
This is my first trip to the Philippines - the country of beautiful beaches, waterfalls hidden in the jungle and rice terraces. The Philippines is also a country of sea turtles, coconut palm trees, tarsiers, whale sharks and good cuisine. Regardless of whether travelers are interested in beaches, blue waterfalls or diving, the Philippines always proves to be a great tourist destination. Philippines is a tropical, island paradise that we can still afford.

Khyber Pass in Pakistan

By: Martin Malik
Khyber Pass is a road leading through mountains from the city of Peshawar in Pakistan to Afghanistan. This dangerous section is the main trade route to Afghanistan, which has a reputation of being outside of the Pakistani law, and it is a place of many surprises. This strategic trade route is a place of constant fight for influence between the forces of the Pakistani government, the Taliban, and the local Pashtun tribes.
