My name is Martin and this is my story. I travel because it is fun and a great way to continue self-education which enriches the worldview and opens my eyes to unnoticeable things, both in the distant countries and the closest ones. Let's get to know other cultures but let's also respect and defend our own.

A few words from the author

Whilst travelling from the Christian remains of Constantinople and the ancient sands of Persia, through the Himalayas, the Great Wall of China and the dense jungles of Borneo, I realized that the world must have its order. Therefore despite my beautiful adventures and experiences I always remembered which culture I myself belonged to, and I also appreciated the beauty and values of our beautiful - White Christian civilization.

Expeditions

Expeditions are articles from the specific years. The author writes them on the basis of his personal experiences, after traveling through Asia. The Expeditions section also includes practical information and descriptions of the natural beauty, cultures and customs prevailing in Asia. This section will certainly help future travelers to plan their own trips. I recommend the region of Central Asia, south-east and west Asia.

The culture of Arabia is not only limited to Islam! Living in tents belongs to the Arab tradition because goat and camel herders have lived in desert tents for centuries, hiding from the scorching sun under date palms. In the desert you can try falconry and camel riding in sand dunes. I also enjoyed brewing Arabic coffee in the desert, in a shade of palm trees and serving it with dates.

2018 Southeast Asia

For my next trip to Southeast Asia I chose the Philippines, Sabah in the Malaysian Borneo, and Brunei. I saw picturesque beaches, jungles, waterfalls and mangrove forests, as well as orangutans and proboscis monkeys. I also reached the highest peak of Borneo - Mt Kinabalu. Both the Philippines and Malaysia are the countries of marine dishes, exotic fruits and coconuts that taste best on beaches under palm trees.

2017 West Asia

At the referendum on Kurdistan independence on 25/09/2017 the whole region was decorated with flags and advertisements promoting the "YES" vote. The Kurds have benefited greatly from the American invasion of Iraq and that's why in the case of independent Kurdistan it could be a pro-American country in the heart of the Arab soil. However, Iraq, Turkey, Iran and Syria are against it and I suspect no a single country would recognize Kurdistan apart from Israel, to further divide the Muslims.

Bethlehem - In this photo we can see a white dove, symbolizing Palestine. The dove wears a bulletproof vest, an olive branch in its beak and a viewfinder pointed in his heart by an Israeli sniper. This image symbolizes Palestinians as people of peace who are under Jewish occupation. Jews question the credibility of this image, saying that Palestinians don't want peace. I leave judgement to my readers.

The Muslim evil brutally murdered about 1.5mln Christians massacring them in the streets, burning their houses, churches, destroying their cultural heritage and raping their women on a mass scale. One of the many brutal methods used by the Ottomans was taking Armenians to the sea and then throwing them overboard. The museum presents shocking images .....

Angkor Wat is located on over 16 acres and It was not until the French explorer Henri Mouhot who described Angkor in one of his publications in 1860. Since then conservation works started and thanks to the French colonialism we can admire Angor as we can see it today.

Burma amazed me with its golden pagodas and impressions of Buddha. I visited the main city of Yangon and the impressive temple complex Shwedagon Paya pagoda. Then I went to see the golden rock pagoda in Kyaiktiyo. According to the legend the golden pagoda on a small rock does not fall into the abyss ...

2010 Central Asia

By: Martin Malik
Central Asia is a "heavy landing" where tourists must show strength of their character. I went through the steppes of Kazakhstan, mountainous serpentines of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. I conquered the far away and remote Pamir Highway and the Wakhan Valley going along Afghanistan. At the end I got to the ancient cities in Uzbekistan.

2008 South Asia

In the north of Sri Lanka war against the Tamil Tigers continued. When I swam in the ocean in Mirissa or Unawatuna or when I picked tea leaves in Ella there were still reports of fighting from the north which were about 250km away from me. When I was leaving it was already known that Sri Lanka would be an undivided country.

My American friend had American cable TV but he had to sign a paper at a police station that he would never let any Chinese people watch it. If CNN was available in China maybe even a civil war would break out. When I used the internet in Shanghai they first copied my passport because "if I used the wrong webistes the police could have questions".

2004 South-East Asia

In 2004 I organized my first trip outside the European culture. It lasted only 2.5 months and then I didn't know yet that traveling is an "incurable disease" and that I will develop a great passion in that direction. I just went to Thailand to train Thai boxing and so I did but at the same time I experienced a lot more than I planned. I left 4 days before the huge tsunami.
